Warhammer 40000
Special Projects

(14-FEB-2002)
Welcome to "special projects." I wasn't really sure where to stick this stuff. It's not really Warhammer 40,000, but then again it involves way more miniatures than anything on the Friends and Other Fun Stuff page, so I decided on a compromise by making its own page that's kinda somwhere in between the two.

Some of you who have been reading my page for a long time, or who know me "in real life" know that I'm a big fan of the Texas Renaissance Festival.

Over the years, several friends of mine from school have worked RenFest in varying capacities - Andrea was a beer wench, Kevin was a pretzel guy, and Nina was an actress.

Nina is a member of the core company of actors there, and accordingly, her costumes (which she makes by herself) are quite spectacular.

This is the real Nina dressed as Amelia von Cleves, her character for the 1998 and 1999 seasons of the TRF. Those familiar with Warhammer Fantasy Battles should immediately recognize Lucretia Belladonna from Games Worshop's "Dogs of War" line. A little green stuff here and there, some Empire helmet plumes, and plenty of painstaking painting later - voila! - a miniature Amelia von Cleves.
In 2000 Nina began playing the part of Anne Boleyn, and accordingly changed her costume. This is a picture of the two of us taken at last year's (2001) festival. In order to make Anne Boleyn, I settled on Texas-based Reaper Miniatures' "Tristan Loremistress." Since I'm not much of a sculptor, the amount of conversion required for this piece was far more than I'm accustomed to; I used green stuff to fashion the headdress, the front and sides of the dress, and the purity seal applied to the front.
